The films of Stanley Kramer and Spencer Tracy

The Rancho Mirage Public Library will play

Award-winning educator James Griswold returns to the Rancho Mirage Public Library with a weekly series of classic films from director Stanley Kramer, starring Spencer Tracy. Griswold will introduce each film and follow each screening with an informal “answer” session. This week will be “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner”.

CV Philharmonic Society Chamber Series — Romantic

Socialize with fellow chamber music enthusiasts at the reception, while enjoying past light hors d’oeuvres. The concert at Theater 3 will follow the reception, featuring the CV Philharmonic String Trio, Robin Olson on violin, John Scanlon on viola and Richard Treat on cello. Proceeds go to the Youth Training Orchestras of America and the Palm Springs Cultural Center Theater 3 Renovation.

Rancho Mirage Writers Festival Writers Series – Melissa Rivers

Melissa Rivers, New York Times award-winning author and producer, will talk about her just-released book, “Lies My Mother Told Me: Tall Tales from A Short Woman.” The first 200 physical attendees will receive a free copy of Rivers’ book. The event will also be streamed live, available on the website.

Lego party

Rancho Mirage Public Library, July 27, 2021.

The Rancho Mirage Public Library hosts a monthly lego night and each month a new theme is offered. October’s theme is — fittingly — Halloween. Children will have 45 minutes to build, five minutes to clean up and 10 minutes to show off their work. The creations are presented the following month. For children five years and older.

Free concerts in the park

The Free Concerts in the Park series returns to Palm Desert with four shows throughout October. This week, Pop Rebels Band wraps up the series with dance, rhythm and blues, rock and party music from the 70s.

Palm Springs Looks Back: Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas”

The Palm Springs Cultural Center will play "The Nightmare Before Christmas" on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 8 p.m. as part of the Palm Springs Rewinds Tim Burton series.

Palm Springs Rewinds is an ongoing film series featuring film screenings from acclaimed contemporary directors. This week, the Palm Springs Cultural Center will screen “The Nightmare Before Christmas”.

‘Become’

Artistic collaborator Richard Gibbons creates an original work on a triptych, animated by male dancers from Nickerson-Rossi Dance. Discover this installation in its rawest state.

Pop-up museum: ChEAT Day Land

The Cheat Day Land interactive pop-up museum is coming to Palm Desert.

Check out this interactive Culinary Arts Museum pop-up in the Coachella Valley for a limited time. This museum offers an interesting take on interactive art with works such as a climbing food wall and a cereal ball pit.
