Indian Railways launches events to highlight historical significance of trains and stations

Showcasing the role and importance of railways in the struggle for freedom, Indian Railways will organize cultural performances, programs, photo exhibitions and several other events at various stations across the country.

No less than 75 stations have been identified for the week-long programme, which is also part of the 75th anniversary celebrations of independence.

According to an official statement, “Nukkad Natak” (street plays), film screenings, photo exhibitions and sound and light shows, among other events, will be held at train stations and on the last day, members of the freedom fighters family will share the freedom stories.

Additionally, under the program, a total of 27 trains will be signaled by families of freedom fighters from originating stations. These trains will be decorated and also display information about their role in the freedom movement.

“We aim to spread the values ​​and glories of the struggle for freedom among the young people, who will be the future of India,” Railway Board Chairman and CEO Vinay Kumar Tripathi told Rail Bhawan on Monday. in New Delhi, during the inauguration of the event named ‘Azadi Ki Rail Gadi aur Stations’.

Several programs, shows and events have been organized by various governments, organizations, bodies and others throughout the year to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of India’s independence.
