When Russian bombs destroyed Liana Rohozhyna’s home in the port city of Mariupol, she knew she had to leave the country with her son Misha. To help Misha cope and make sense of their difficult escape plan, Liana told him they were leaving Ukraine to find his favorite celebrity and American professional wrestler John Cena.
Although the war in Ukraine has been hard on everyone, it makes life particularly precarious for people with disabilities such as Down syndrome and autism, as they are often hypersensitive to loud sounds, changes in routine and become agitated in crowded places such as bomb shelters.
What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday. Misha and her mother, Liana define #Never give up.

Thanks to @WSJ and @WWE who made this special visit possible. https://t.co/RpriCvjN3K
As reported by the wall street journal, after a tedious journey, Misha and her mother arrived in the Netherlands last month. When John Cena learned of their story, he decided to meet them. On June 4, John Cena meets Misha and spends an entire afternoon with him. His mother told the the wall street journal that she saw Misha smile for the first time in a long time after meeting Cena.
The world doesn’t have enough heroes but we have @JohnCena and frankly I am grateful to him!!
I confess. I didn’t know who John Cena was when I saw this post. I don’t follow wrestling or much of popular culture for that matter. But that’s what I would like to be all the time, and who I would like us all to be.
Apparently, John Cena has the most appearances for the Make A Wish Foundation. I’m sure I’ve read that he never refuses a request. He granted more than 650 wishes. Absolute legend of a man.

I met @JohnCena at a WWE event while working security at the event. I’m a combat veteran and I have a battlefield cross tattoo, which he saw. He talked to me for about 30 minutes and wouldn’t let the whole conversation get away from me. He is an INCREDIBLE human being.
John Cena is just an amazing person. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bad story about him, never sit still just seems to go the extra mile to be a super hero for the kids! inspiring
One of these videos pops up every few months where John goes out of his way to do something cool for the people who are worth picking up and it’s so cool. The guy is a winning human being. So good.
OK, cry now. It took my breath away. A thousand blessings on your head John Cena, and on Misha and his mother.
❤️❤️❤️

Video of their interaction was posted to social media by World Wrestling Entertainment earlier this week. Soon it went viral with people appreciating Cena’s gesture.
Commenting on the video, a Twitter user wrote, “Apparently John Cena has the most appearances for the Make A Wish Foundation. I’m sure I’ve read that he never refuses a request. He granted more than 650 wishes. Absolute legend of a man.
