More than 35 restaurants will participate in Asian Food Fest

CINCINNATI — More than 35 regional restaurants representing 13 countries will participate in next month’s Asian Food Fest.

Now in its 11th year, the food and culture event will take place Saturday, May 7 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, May 8 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Court Street Plaza in downtown Cincinnati.

The tantalizing tour of Pan-Asian dishes, in small plate form, with options ranging from noodle dishes to barbecue to sushi, with plenty in between. The price of the items will vary from $2 to $8. There are also drinks including bubble tea and adult drinks including local crafts and Asian beer.

Participants include sit-down restaurants, food trucks and other vendors. The full list is below.

Spencer Mapes, senior events manager for Asian Food Fest, said there were more participating restaurants this year than in previous years. The variety of restaurants and dishes will provide people with an “immersive cultural experience like no other in the region,” Mapes added.

Established in 2010, Asian Food Festival mission extends beyond food. The goal is to use the event as a way to promote diversity in the Cincinnati area through a celebration of the unique foods and cultures of the many countries that make up the local Asian community.

Attendees can expect live entertainment and family-friendly activities and more. Of course, it’s also a platform to encourage people from near and far to experience the growing Asian food scene.

The event is free and open to the public.

JP Leong, a representative of the Asian American Cultural Association of Cincinnati, said the two-day festival gives visitors a little taste of the “unique and fun things we do” in the city.

AACAC’s vision is to make Cincinnati a more diverse and inclusive city by increasing the visibility and representation of Asian Americans. There are few better ways to do this than a festival that attracts thousands of people every year.

“Each year, the Asian Food Fest team is proud to see how Cincinnati-area residents support these restaurants and businesses,” Leong said.
