Please join the City of San José Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services, Councilwoman Magdalena Carrasco, Office of Economic Development and Cultural Affairs and community members at the unveiling of a mural memorial in honor of Keyla Salazar and a new playground.
The mural commemorates Keyla Salazar, a teenage girl from Mayfair who was the victim of the 2019 mass shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival. The mural was created by Jessica Sabogal, a Bay Area artist.
Additionally, children can enjoy a new play area at Mayfair Park which features two structures for children ages 2-12, including five climbers, six slides, four swings, a single large turnstile and three shade canopies.
This family event will also include Aztec dancing, a resource fair, snacks and a screening of Disney Pixar’s “Coco.”
