Over $9 million in arts grants

TWENTY-NINE arts and culture organizations and arts centers in Canberra have received more than $9 million in annual arts funding under ACT’s new Arts Organization Investment Scheme, announced today (9 November) Arts Minister Tara Cheyne.

In particular, this has meant increased funding for eight organizations that run arts centers in Canberra, new multi-year funding for three organisations: Contour 556 (Canberra Art Biennial), Luminescence Chamber Singers and The Stellar Company and multi-year funding for organizations . and practices supporting diversity.

Major grants include $720,000 to Arts Capital Ltd, which operates the Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres; $900,000 to the Belconnen Arts Center; $850,000 to Canberra Glassworks; $950,000 to The Stagemaster Inc, which operates The Street Theater and $860,000 to Tuggeranong Community Arts Association Inc, which operates the Tuggeranong Arts Centre.

The greater certainty, Cheyne said, would enable organizations to provide sector development, career pathways for artists and arts workers, support a diversity of activities, and provide opportunities for access and engagement. .

Applications were assessed by ArtsACT and industry experts.

Arts Center Investment – ​​Funding for up to five years

• Strathnairn Arts Association Inc $200,000, management of the Strathnairn Arts Center and delivery of visual arts programs and services, including ceramics and bronze at all levels of practice.
• The Stagemaster Inc $950,000, management of street theater and delivery of professional development programs and productions for local theater artists.
• Tuggeranong Community Arts Association Inc $860,000, management of the Tuggeranong Arts Center and delivery of community arts and cultural development programs in Tuggeranong and Woden.
