The Prime Minister paid a floral tribute to India’s freedom fighter and First Deputy Prime Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, celebrated in Patel’s honor on October 31. The Prime Minister has decided to cancel a tour and committee meeting scheduled for today following the Morbi tragedy where more than 130 lives have been taken so far due to a bridge collapse.
The Prime Minister will however visit Banaskantha district to lay the foundation stones for various development projects in Tharad worth Rs 8,000 crores. It will also dedicate key railway projects to the nation in Ahmedabad. Prime Minister Modi is on a three-day visit to Gujarat from Sunday.
On Sunday, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the C-295 transport aircraft manufacturing plant in Vadodara. The inauguration was attended by Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Airbus CCO Christian Scherer and Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran.
On November 1, Modi will attend an event at Mangadh Hill in neighboring Rajasthan and then reach Jambughoda in Panchmahal district of Gujarat to launch various development projects. Modi will also address those present at the scene.
In the evening, the Prime Minister is due to address BJP workers from all 182 Gujarat Assembly constituencies via video conference. This “Diwali Milan” event for party workers will be held at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.
