Queens Rising – A celebration of arts and culture in June 2022

Shown here are performances at the Chocolate Factory and Flushing City Hall.

Queens Rising, presented by Northwell Health, is a month-long multidisciplinary arts celebration of the borough’s creative diversity.

Throughout June 2022, Queens Rising highlights dozens of performances, exhibitions and cultural events that showcase the borough’s artistic and cultural communities. In partnership with the many arts organizations, multi-purpose halls and galleries across Queens, Queens Rising has mobilized the borough’s arts community to collaborate and promote all of the incredible people who contribute to the vibrant culture and essence of Queens neighborhoods.

Fostering a borough-wide celebration of the arts, Queens Rising 2022 brings together hundreds of arts organizations across Queens and New York to work collaboratively with the goal of reaching most neighborhoods in Queens through public performances, interactive shows and art exhibits. Thousands of people from Queens and the rest of New York City as a whole will have the opportunity to enjoy arts and cultural events in the borough and support local artists and small businesses in the borough.

Queens Rising is presented by Northwell Health Long Island Jewish Forest Hills. “As a community hospital that not only serves the health care needs of Queens, but also draws the majority of our staff to the diverse neighborhoods that make up our borough, LIJ Forest Hills is Queens,” says Lorraine Chambers Lewis, PA, executive director of Long Island Jewish Forest Hills, which is part of Northwell Health. “We were at the epicenter of COVID and we got through it with the help of our community more resilient than ever. That’s why we’re thrilled to be part of Queens Rising NYC to celebrate the rich mosaic of artistic, culinary and creative communities that make our borough so unique.

Queens Rising will feature events presented by organizations and individual artists throughout Queens. From a DJ battle at the Langston Hughes Library, to free dance performances at various locations presented by the Queensboro Dance Festival, to film screenings at the Museum of the Moving Image and a major exhibition of Louis Armstrong collages on Resorts World’s Red Wall in conjunction with the Louis Armstrong House Museum, there’s something for everyone in Queens during the month of June. Queens Rising kicked off its month-long celebration of the borough’s rich artistic and cultural offerings with a special evening of performances held at Queens Night Market on Saturday, June 4, from 5 p.m. to midnight.
