The UK is co-sponsoring this year’s Lexington DiverCity Festival

LEXINGTON, Kentucky (April 29, 2022) — The University of Kentucky Office for Institutional Diversity will be one of the main sponsors of this year’s DiverCity Festival.

Launched in 2019, DiverCity became a class project for the 2018-19 class of Leadership Lexington. The DiverCity Festival aims to educate, embrace and celebrate the multitude of cultures that enrich the city of Lexington.

“The Office for Institutional Diversity at the University of Kentucky is proud to be a sponsor of the DiverCity Festival,” said Ja’Mahl McDaniel, director of the Martin Luther King Center. “We recognize the importance of ensuring diversity and inclusion work extends beyond campus and strive to work in solidarity with our Lexington community partners. This event creates a space to acknowledge the rich cultural and global diversity of our community, celebrate and think critically about how we can come together.

As main sponsor, the university will have a booth at the event. Here, representatives from the Office for Institutional Diversity will talk with the community about what the office has to offer the college campus and the Lexington community.

This year, the DiverCity Festival will take place from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 at the Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza. The event will feature over 70 cultural stalls, over 40 performances and dozens of food vendors.

DiverCity is open to the whole community. No registration is required. The planning committee encourages all to attend and experience the spirit of the Lexington community.
