The fickle and bigoted accused, Bradley, fell in love with another woman and abandoned the plaintiff, the beautiful Angelina. Port Macquarie-Hastings Council organizes a series of “Community Preparedness Days” to provide important information about natural disasters. Key emergency services personnel will be available to speak to participants about disaster management ‘before, during and after’. Children can enjoy a day of games, music and food, and participate in practice obstacle courses in the field. One has already taken place in Laurieton, with Port Macquarie being held at Westport Park on May 21 from 1-4 p.m. and Wauchope being held at Bain Park on June 4 from 1-4 p.m.

There will be plenty of stalls at the Kempsey Swap Meet, which runs from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 22 at Kempsey Racecourse. The event is organized by the Natureland Classic Motorcycle Club with proceeds going to local charities. There is a donation of gold coins at the door.

Dust off your Akubras and get your spurs out for the first-ever Boots & Beach Country Music Festival. The 2022 Salty Freshwater Festival will be held on Saturday, May 28 at Unkya Reserve, Eungai Creek. The Festival has produced incredible results for the communities and the organizers are proud of this inclusive celebratory event. The region’s flagship cultural arts event, ArtWalk, will return to its original format with an evening program in 2022. The Port Macquarie CBD will come alive with light, music and culture to celebrate the creative talent of our area from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on June 10. ArtWalk includes exhibitions, activations, illuminations, live performances, artist markets, workshops, installations and more. A sound and light installation, titled Connecting the Dots, will be projected onto the historic Port Macquarie Courthouse as part of ArtWalk.

The inaugural TORTUGA festival is set to take place at Westport Park, Port Macquarie, from June 10-19. The incredible range of circus, music, cabaret and comedy shows will take place in the beautiful art deco venue, the Aurora Spiegeltent. Audiences can expect a variety of performances, including the multi-award-winning head-first acrobats and a musical evening with ABC Jazz darling Monica Trapaga. The South West Rocks Running Festival takes place on Sunday June 12 and features a 42.2 km marathon, a 21.1 km half marathon, 10 km and 5 km fun runs and junior events. Organized by the Hat Head Tri Club, this event showcases the crystal clear waters of Trial Bay and the nature of Arakoon National Park

One of the Cancer Council’s most exciting and glamorous events, Stars of Hastings Dance for Cancer is a fundraising gala that sees local legends, everyday heroes and influential members of the community perform team with a professional dance teacher. Each pair learns a dance to perform on the night of the event and competes for the three prizes up for grabs, Judges’ Choice, People’s Choice, and Biggest Fundraiser. Money raised helps fund world-class cancer research, prevention programs, advocacy and support services to help those affected by cancer through every stage of their journey. Showcasing incredible Australian talent near Town Beach in Port Macquarie, this is an event not to be missed. It will take place over two weekends; From June 17 to 19 and from June 24 to 26. British India, Jebediah and Dallas Crane will be on the festival stage. The event also includes an open division surfing competition, a skateboarding competition, market stalls, food vendors and a family entertainment area. Artist submissions are now open for the highly anticipated South West Rocks Jail Sculpture. A large number of top sculpting artists will participate and some of the region’s best artists are scheduled for the opening night. There will also be a day of family fun. Sculpture in the Gaol takes place from Saturday July 2 to Sunday July 10. This will be the 14th Sculpture in the Gaol, transforming the heritage-listed Trial Bay Gaol in Arakoon, South West Rocks, into a stunning artistic landscape.

New Journeys Broad Horizons is the work of Port Macquarie art practitioner Lucy Frost, who was commissioned for the project. The exhibition aims to bring selected items from the Museum’s collection to life in the 21st century. The exhibition considers both the journeys of the objects and Lucy’s personal journey, and includes interactive elements. The exhibition is supported by the Create NSW arts and culture funding scheme. New Journeys Broad Horizons can be viewed at the Port Macquarie Museum, 22 Clarence Street, Port Macquarie, located in the Port Macquarie Cultural Quarter. The Museum is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibition lasts until the end of October.
